Post Operative Instructions For Vein Stripping

1. Bed rest until the day after surgery. Keep leg(s) elevated on pillows.

2. No sitting or standing for extended periods of time one (1) week after surgery.

3. On first post-operative day activity may be increased slowly and as tolerated.

4. No tub baths for one (1) week.

5. May shower on third (3rd) post-operative day. Remove bandages prior to bathing.

6. Re-wrap ace bandages up to knee after showering or bathing. Use wraps for two (2) weeks after surgery then you will be using Jobst stocking for next 2 months.

7. Cleanse incisions with soap and water daily, then apply antibiotic ointment to incision sites.
